children! I am wondering.....I have all the premenstrual symptoms expected...(bloating, mood swings, very, very sore b*****s, hunger and fatigue. I get these about a week before my period and they end right when I get my period. My cycles are between 29-36 days. I am 25 years old and have a 7 year old son. I guess all I want to know is if I am having a period and all the premenstrual symptoms that go along with it....... AM I FOR SURE OVULATING?

  1. No, you are not for sure ovulating unless your basal body temperature reflects it.  Even OPKs can give you a positive, but that only means your body is gearing up to ovulate, not necessarily actually completing the action.

Also, even if you ovulate, it does not mean sperm can reach the egg!  Your tubes could be blocked.  If you have been seriously trying for three years, chart for a few months (http://www.fertilityfriend.com is great!), and then see your doctor, armed with those charts to show him.

    Good luck!

  2. The way to find out if you are actually ovulating is by taking basal temp.  You're temp just up a day or two after your ovulate.

An ovulation prediction test will detect an lh surge which is good for when you're trying to conceive but it won't tell you if the egg was actually released.  They just detech the hormone surge responsible for egg final maturing and is suppose to cause the sac to rupture so the egg releases.

So both are good to do.

  3. Take an ovulation test.
