Hi, I'm trying to find any info on Mary Bridget Carmody, Born in Roscrea, Ireland her date of birth was 28/08/1937. She had 3 children. The first child, my father, she named Paul Carmody Born in Burnley on 8/10/1958.

The second child, she named Kathleen Carmody, born in Nelson, 30/11/1959. Both my father and Kathleen were adopted.

Mary went on to have another child who she also named Kathleen Carmody. The second Kathleen was born in Ireland, not sure on dates but i can find out.

Mary left Kathleen in Ireland with relatives and was living in Blackpool with a man named Joseph Turner.

Mary and Joseph died on 12/07/1963, Mary was 27 and Joseph was 33. From this i think I have found that Josephs birthday was 12/11/1929 and was born in 83 Burnley Road, Briercliffe, Burnley.

If I have the right Joseph, his mother was Hannah Hollins who married Charles Turner in 1919 (I think). Charles Turner was a cotton weaver, And if i have the right Hannah Hollins she also had a son named James.

  1. Try ordering the birth/death certificates from Southport, or Family Record centre or the local office,

Also contact local authorities to trace adoption records as they sometimes include more info. However this may need your Dad to do it.

Try ancestry websites besides genes reunited.

Adverts in family history magazines and even friends reunited may help provide added info.

  2. Not the right age or birthdate for Joseph Turner. From the age when he died at 33 he was only 6 years older than Mary if that's correct. If the birthdate is correct he would be 8 years older than Mary and would have been 35 when he died. That could be a possibility too. Was there someone else with the same name? However since he was from the same town it's likely he's the right one. Is it a possibility to get the original birth certificate or are they changed when the children are adopted? If Kathleen wasn't adopted she should have her original birth certificate. Doesn't the birth certificate have the father's name?
