Question:

TV Channel went out?

Hello. I only get local stations in my area and like 4 days ago, one of the channels just like stopped airing. All the channel is now is just snow. Is this because of the digital effect? Do I need to buy that DTV Converter box to view it? Thx!

  1. If you are seeing snow, then you are watching analog.  If you are getting all the other stations, then that one is probably off the air.

This can be for a number of reasons, equipment failure, no back up equipment, or construction of new facilities.  Call the station in question and ask.

  2. h**l NO

    couple options:

    buy a HDTV

    check bills then pay it

(if you know how)hack the system

    switch to a ATT U-Verse

  3. your tuner is going bad one channel can go out and sometimes that is all, if you have a vcr try watching the channel thru the vcr

  4. Sounds like they have switched to digital.  Your choice, sooner or later you will need to get a box or a new TV :)

  5. Welcome to Digital!  That's typically what happens, so when they say things will change and you will lose access, they mean just that.

It sucks to be forced into buying a box though.  Sorry.

  6. Yes you do need to buy a DTV box for digital unless you have a built-in digital tuner in your TV.

The fact that you say you have snow and not a blue screen tells me that you have lost your analogue signal.

Depending on where you live in the world will depend on if it can be rectified , but I wouldn't waste your money trying. You would be better off just buying the DTV box and be done with it , or get a Pay-TV service provider instead.

In Australia , Digital will be available from 2002 with analogue being totally phased out by 2012.
