Question:

TV Court Shows ... Joke or real Court ?

I have very unusual legal matter that I explained in full on www.fathersrightsdenied.com

My all attempts to find legal assistance failed. Today I was contacted by TV Judge - Court Show and was informed that they are interested in showing my case on TV. I am exited about it since I was "screwed" so much by my American Con Artist ex wife ...

What is your advice to settle this type of matter on TV? Do you think this type of exposure would give me hope of finding free legal representation? Does anyone have any experience with TV Judges ?

  1. People seem to get their issues resolved on the court shows, but I think they probably choose the cases based more on their entertainment value than legal merit.

  2. If it is a matter about someone suing you because your dog peed on their lawn, I'd say do it.  Worst case, you get a free ticket to wherever the court is.

If it's something important like child custody, go to a real court.

  3. i think judge judy is hot

  4. If you Enter an agreement with any of the Judge Judy types You are asking to go into arbitration not a real court! You may get a monetary settlement which will bind you from further litigation in the matter! Thing Real hard and I mean Really hard about it Before you do it!<<<<<to the beverlyhills guy, Judge Judy is no longer a Judge and has been sued her self for making decisions on TV on cases ubove her Arbiter stats.

  5. Entertainment... not real court

  6. You have to read the contracts. If you go on TV then you represent yourself. Judge Judy Scheindlin is a real court judge. Others such as Joe Brown, Alex Ferrer, Christina's Court are all in it for the entertainment. Depends on what your sueing on. Small claims court max's out at 5k. So if you sue for more or feel you cant represent yourself well enough to win  get an attorney and go through the court process.

  7. I doubt that a TV appearance on a fake court show will help you find an attorney.

Read the contract VERY carefully.  As a condition of being on the show, you may have to agree to forego your rights to trial in a real court.

You say that your attempts to find legal assistance have failed?  If more than a couple of attorneys tell you they will not take the case, they may be telling you that your case is not winnable.  Listen carefully.

  8. Those shows require you to agree to a binding decision. Essentially, it's a private trial, not unlike binding arbitration.

Once the dispute is settled, you may not pursue the matter further in a court of law.

So if you're doing this to get a lawyer interested, forget it. But if you're doing it because you think you'll get a fair hearing based on a reasonable argument, go for it.
