Question:

TV Digital Switchover - Will I need to plug into aerial?

I live in a houseshare and we all have TVs in our rooms and can pick up normal TV (5 channels). We do not have TV aerial points in our bedrooms connected to the main aerial. I've tried plugging in a freeview box and digital aerial (>TV+AERIAL.htm)http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5345612/Trail/searchtext>TV+AERIAL.htm) but it still doesn't pick up any digital channels.

When the switchover takes place will we not be able to watch TV anymore without getting TV aerial points put into each of our rooms??

I cant find this information anywhere on any of the government/bbc/itv sites

Thanks

  1. Click on the link below for the info you need to know.

  2. It could be that you are in a week signal area. If so, you will need an outside aerial. In good signal areas a freeview box is all you need,

  3. are you switching to DTV? i thought it was just America.

  4. Not all citys have switched to digital yet.  Check with your locals to find out when it will be available.

  5. If you choose your freeboxes carefuly you can 'dasychain' an unlimted number of boxes. Failing that You can get a Digital splitter to share the signal from one aerial socket among the many tvs.

You may need new aerial cable and a antenna on your roof as some old ones that can pick up analogue signals well cannot pick up digital signals. Before buying new antennas or cabling I suggest getting the ladder out and repositioning the aerial as sometimes this is all that is needed.
