I had my powerstrip as the source where my TV, DVR and Direct TV DVR box, and a telephone all plugged in to the same powerstrip. I turned off the power to the powerstrip, then later changed my mind and when I turned on the powerstrip ther was a "pop" sound and a slight burn smell. The outlets in that room do not work now.
I took each thing to the next room and plugged them in to see if they were operational. All components except the TV still have power come on when plugged in.
So, now my TV does not turn on and my outlets in that room do not have power.
I checked the breakers and they are all on. I located the breaker for that room and turned it off then on again. They are still dead outlets. That room was a later addition by the previous homeowners.
**Maybe that room is not reprresented on the breaker box?
**I flipped the breaker switch called "family room", so that should be it, right?
The TV is a bigscreen and it would cost me a fortune that I do not have to pay for a TV repair on that big 4 years old TV.
**Do you think that also the TV had a fuse die within the TV, as it was the only thing that did not come on when plugged into a working outlet in the next room?
**How do I fix the outlets in the family room that no longer work in there?
The energy was not an overload when it was all plugged in the same way all these last few years.
**Why did all of this happen from turning the powerstrip "off" then "on"?
