I have a ViewSonic LCD HDTV; you can view its specs here:

I do NOT have cable nor satellite, just regular local TV like you get from a bunny ear antenna. I asked another question earlier, which was whether or not I need a digital converter box in time for Feburary 2009 and the answer I got was NO, I won't need one since my TV has a "ATSC tuner".

So bottom line, my question is: how do I get my TV to receive the local TV channels without a 'bunny ear antenna' ?

Thanks in advance!

  1. buy cable you cheap *** !

  2. >how do I get my TV to receive the local TV channels without a 'bunny ear antenna' ?

You don't. Digital broadcasts get to your TV the same way analog ones do.

In North America the same antennas are used for both analog and digital reception.

If you had a converter box, you would have to attach an antenna to it.

  3. basic cable is 50 dollars a month.  if you have a digital tuner sometimes you can pick up digital hd channels.  i can with mine ( i get on demand stuff too but from others peoplels houses.  when they pause i have to wait though and it isnt very reliable)

  4. Freeview maybe? or a freeview box?

  5. If you want to receive free over the air signals, you are going to have to use an antenna of some sort.  If rabbit ears are not sufficient or you don't want to use them, then you need to look at an outdoor antenna.  Visit http://www.antennaweb.org and put in your ZIP code for a list of stations in your area and suggestions on antennas for your unique situation.

The other options are cable or satellite with the "locals" package.

EDIT: The link you posted is for a HDTV.  It's already digital, this set would not need a converter box.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.

  6. They do make HD antenna's for over the air reception, but if you are in a good area , you may get by with your rabbit ears. The antennas are considerably different though and come february, you will probably have to purchase one. If you are in a bad area for reception, then it probably won't work well either since HD requires a fairly strong sidnal.
