Yesterday when I tried powering on my Vizio 42" LCD nothing worked, I tried everything but still nothing, finaly I got right up to the IR senor and it works! Move more then 2 inches away and it doesnt. Tried 2 Universal remotes as well as the regular Vizio TV remote, all do the same thing, I have to get right up to it in order for it to work.

(Tried in complete darkness as well)

Didnt change anything and no one else touches this TV (Live alone). Every part of this TV works fine, its just the sensor and this TV is not new eather its about a year old now.

Any Idea?

  1. It may be the SB5V supply feeding this circuit.  Also known as the Standby 5V circuit.  It is in the low voltage power supply.  Need to have it checked out.  The fact that you tried other remotes points to the IR circuit in the controller I.C. and the voltage feeding it.  Good luck.
