Question:

TV Licensing, can you advise me?

I paid for a whole license for this year, Why do I have to continue making payments? I am 6 months ahead and I find it annoying that I have to make more payments to something I have already paid for. I know it will cover my future license but I would rather wait until that license is up before paying for 2010. Can I stop the payments as I am ahead?

  1. Contact Tv Licensing (email or phone call) and ask them if you can do that. They make you pay in advance for you license its the only way they can make a profit. Its like everything else in this country a rip off.

  2. it is your money you can do as you please, if you are a year ahead then call then and tell them that you are not paing ahead anymore. they will advise you then

  3. If, like me, you're on the Cash Easy Entry scheme, you need to keep paying ahead all the time.  I had a letter this morning reminding me that I'd missed last week's payment and this week's is due in a few days.  I'm actually licensed till Christmas, even if I don't pay a penny between now and then.  The scheme is designed to be a year round way of budgeting, which means that sometimes you're behind and sometimes you're ahead, but it balances out over the year.

If you're paying by Direct Debit, then different rules apply.  You should ring the Licensing office in Preston and they'll be able to clear up any confusion and misunderstanding about this.

  4. yeah u shouldnt be paying more money. unless u have missed payments previously?

  5. Definetely they take enough off us tell them you'll pay the last 6 months when the six months you have paid in advance is ceased. Good Luck

  6. YES but then you wont be on the annual scheme and will have to buy the licence at a post office on-line or wherever.

many monthly plans do this you pay  in advance for half the year then in arrears for the other half.  when you get to 6 months in advance you are sent the new licence and pay the remaining 6 months in arrears.

if it annoys you why did you enter the scheme? its there for convenience.

  7. Yes

  8. Yes, phone and tell them that's what you are doing as they may start sending  you letters asking for missed payments.
