  1. That depends. Each has advantages and disadvantages.

LCD: Good for bright rooms, best if you play video games, lighter weight, greater choice of manufacturers. Disadvantages: Suffer from motion artifacts unless you get one of the newer 12oHz refresh rate sets. Limited viewing angle of about 175 degrees before color begins to wash out.

Plasma: More natural, film-like quality to the image. Do not suffer from motion artifacts. Less expensive than the newer 120Hz LCD sets. Better black levels which translates to better color rendition (although LCD's get closer in black level every year). Viewing angle is not limited like LCD's. Disadvantages: Not the best choice for video game use due to POTENTIAL of burn in although it's not the issue it was with the earlier plasmas. Plasmas run hotter and use MARGINALLY more power than LCD's. Not good in brightly lit rooms.

Best brands for LCD's: Sony, Samsung, Sharp at the top tier. LG, Toshiba, and Mitsubishi are good too but a step down from the top three. For plasma: Panasonic, Samsung, and Pioneer (which is generally regarded as the best.) It's also far and away the most expensive. And beginning next year, Pioneer will no longer be making its own displays. They will be sourced from Panasonic.

  2. Despite what most people will say, modern plasma screens do not have burn in problems anymore.

It all depends on what size, and where you are going to put the TV.

Plasmas have better picture quality due to higher contrast ratios(meaning it can produce realistic black colors, as opposed to grays of LCDs), and are great for darker rooms.

LCDs, however, have lower contrast ratios, and are good for brighter rooms with ample light.

If you want a smaller screen size, LCDs are cheaper. If you want a larger size, say, 50" and up, go for plasma.

Or you can even wait for newer technologies that are coming up, like OLED screens, LED backlit LCDs. and laser projection TVs.

  3. plasma

  4. LCD don't get as hot, They don't have burn in, they use less power thew out the year. Better picture form the LCD. O yeah and there a little cheaper.

  5. plasma is the way to go

  6. try these websites:  (My personal suggestion is lcd)

  7. its not true that LCD is better, you can get a better picture from a plasma,  just look at the Pioneer Kuro, amazing black levels and screen performance, although plasmas use more power and are generally a little more fragile, if you haven't got $2200 / £1200 to spend though, buy an LCD, samsung, sony or panasonic will give a good set
