He's considered by many Kiwis to be NZ's top TV host, Personally I think he's EXTREMELY OVERRATED, The way he reads long sentences without catching his breath, His voice tone itself is simply a JOKE! He just doesn't speak in a normal pace...Campbell Life to me is not just a current affairs show...It's a comedy show!!

  1. Tend to agree with you

Bring back Susan Wood to that time slot on TV1

  2. New Zealand is a small place and anyone who goes on TV is instantly famous. Its just the fact that hes on all the time and there is no one else.

  3. I'm sorry but I disagree. I like his voice and I like the way he reads. Campbell Live isn't really ment to be like the news, more of a 60minutes type program. I hate Tv 1 I think they are unprofessional over there. Sorry, just my opinion!

  4. I am inclined to agree with you. I am a TV1 person myself, and don't think they are any better in the same time slot, so I don't watch either.

  5. Mareeclara has the right answer.

As for me, I DON'T think of him.

    Driver T

  6. I find his voice rather hard to listen to really....I hear he is one of the nicest guys you will meet, but I find the low tone in his voice rather "dorky"!!

  7. I agree with wabby, John Campbell is a legend!! I love him!! I hate Tv1 as well, there news is so boring and the presenters are trying to be "hip" but miss the beat. Also what is with that bearded dude on closeup, I cant take him seriously AT all lol. anyhoo I cant really forge an opnion, I normally watch shortland st at 7pm lol

  8. Don't watch his tv programme to be honest.  I miss him on the National Radios Saturday a.m. programme.  He was great there.  Interviews lasting about 30 minutes - came across as an interested, genuine person.

I've heard he's a really nice guy too.  Doesn't come across as believing his own publicity like Holmes and Mike  Hosking.

His speech can be irritating, but he's always been like that, even on radio.
