There was a show called The White Shadow and I see it is still on somewhere.

I second Welcome Back Kotter...lol, I was only 3 or 4 when it came on, but I loved watching it.  My dad has taught since before I was born, and he looked just like Kotter.  I thought I got to see my dad's classroom on TV every day at 2:30 :)
