I have a Zenith SRV1320S 13-inch TV/VCR combo. Its an older T.V., got it in 1996. Everything on it still works fine, EXCEPT when we attempt to play VHS in the VCR, the picture comes up with no sound. Any idea what could be causing this?

  1. If it is a separate player, we usually suspect the audio connections like the RCA cables...but if its is a TV-VCR Combo, all connections  from player to TV are internal. If we are going to trace those lines that carries the sound, we have to open the TV/VCR and should only be done by a qualified tech. Aside from basic controls, the only other thing we can do is cleaning the tape head by using a tapehead cleaner. Dirty tapeheads can also cause poor scratchy sound or no sound at all. So try cleaning the tapehead first. VHS cleaners can be bought at local Walmart, Radioshack, Circuit City...
