TV commentator says Tiger Woods has not learnt his lesson
Tiger Woods may have performed brilliantly on ground, but the TV commentator Ewen Murray believes the troubled-star has not learned his lesson yet.
Murray who has been covering the Omega Dubai Desert Classic live from the Emirates Golf Club on Friday said he felt disgusted at the behaviour of the American. Murray complained that the 35-year-old spit during the round, which is against the etiquettes
of the sport.
He quoted, “It's one of the ugliest things you will ever see on a golf course.”
Later, he added that Woods should have signed the autographs of a group of children who had been waiting for the star since the start of the practice session on Tuesday. Murray stated, “If you are getting paid $3 million, I don't think it’s too much to ask
to spend 15 to 20 minutes with some of the youngsters.”
Considering Woods’ own start in the sport, the commentator is right in his anger. Woods’ career as a golfer started at the tender age of five, when he accompanied his father to a golf course in California. The children looking up to him are possibly following
the same example. They look up to him as an example and thus, need to have a good view of him if they are to follow his lead.
Tiger Woods shot to stardom in 1995 when he claimed his first major title with a 12-stroke margin. He was the youngest golfer ever to become world number 1. Ever since, he had been rising until 2009, when a tabloid story about his wild s*x life vanquished
his good-boy image, also destroying his marriage. The world’s richest athlete lost his reputation of being the most well-mannered player on the field.
He stepped down from his throne on 31st October 2010, a few days after he qualified for the Ryder Cup. In the first week of January 2011, he lost the rank of world-number two to Martin Kaymer, who is perceived as the next Tiger Woods.
Tiger Woods was one of most aggressive golfers when on his peak. His fist pumping style after relishing success was known as a victory symbol, but there are certain norms that Woods needs to address. The first of all is to learn to respect the fans who love
him despite his faltered image.
