TV cutting picture off?

Question

I have a sharp widescreen tv (it's second hand so I don't have any instructions) and it seems that whatever screen setting I have it on (i.e. 14:9 etc) it always cuts the edges of the picture off. Even when I put it to the old style tv setting, it still cuts the edges off. I have tried various settings with my sky+ box and it doesn't seem to do any good.

Now I am not a tv engineer, I can find the channels and hook up the usual xbox/sky/wii peripherals but I am obviously missing something!

Can anyone give me some advice as to where I am going wrong?

maybe you have the settings in the sky box to letterbox or something like that,seen as tough its the same in both tvs im pretty sure its got to do with the settings in that.i'd go through the menus in every device that you are using and just make sure because it may not be the tv after all

First I would check to see if it happens on all the inputs if it is then the perrifial is on the wrong setting. If not then I would have to say contact the manufactuer

There should be a button on the remote that lets you change the picture size from wide screen to normal and other sizes.

Edit........ If you've tried everything, the only other thing I can think of is that the tube is on its way out....... sorry.
