  1. They won't normally give you a warning. If they did that, nobody would buy a licence until the s**+thouses called.

The fine isn't too OTT, but it comes with a criminal record, so I would keep the TV locked in a press during the day.

  2. My friends (students) had no licence when the inspector called, and he gave them 1 week to get one.

They got rid of the telly, and placed a telly-sized cardboard box in it's place, with a sheet thrown over it.  A week later the inspector called back, said 'A-HA' as he pulled the sheet off and was dumbfounded to find the cardboard box there.  My friends then produced a 'cardboard box licence' for him to examine.  Hillarious.

  3. Yes they give you a warning. They threatned to take me to court if I didnt get one within  a few days

  4. Yeah they give you time to get it, don't worry.  Then if you don't you'll be threatened with court.  If you get sky or ntl you'll prob get caught quicker as they have to give their list of subscribers to the inspectors.  And if its a new development they'll be around!

  5. I know a guy who went to jail for not paying his tv licence.....LOL

i dont know the details (he was my old teacher)

    but it did happen!

  6. go and buy a few stamps at post office so you at least look as if you are trying to pay it, think they cost 5euro each, before I moved into my place was just there cleaning it they were at my bloody door before had even moved in, the bloody cheek, be careful as do really check, go to St. Vincent De Paul if you are really stuck and need some help as would help you through a difficult time if finding it really hard.
