When I turn the power on for my TV I can hear it turn on...but the screen remains black. It's an older tv - - Sharp 27H S60....about 10 years old. I can't even find it on the Sharp website!

Any ideas why this is happening?

  1. Shucks. I'm not a repair person, but my guess is the CRT driver circuitry has a fault. If you're getting audio, the tuner's good. Something's wrong in the long line of ICs and transformers that takes those small electrical impulses them, demuxes them, gives them gain, then spits them in a form that can drive a yoke. Whatever, you've either got a big and power hungry radio that gets TV audio, or you've got something for the trash collector.

I assume you've checked the brightness. I once saw a TV that was "broken." Somebody turned the brightness and contrast k***s to their minimum, and the voltage to the tube was thus too low to even see the hint of a picture. Oops.
