TV screen is black using cable?

We had cable installed yesterday and we've always used satellite so it's different. My brother was watching TV and messing with the control when the screen went black. I'm not sure what he pressed, I wasn't around. On the cable box where the time used to be, it's just a bunch of dashes. When I disconnect the cable box and plug it back in, the cable box says "boot," then the TV says PowerHouse or something like that and then it goes black again. We have cable from BrightHouse and an HD Scientific Atlantic cable box.

If what irishevil told you doesn't work, you need to call the cable company support.

unplug it and wait a few minutes, then plug it back in, it should then reset, will say boot then go black for a few minutes...eventually it will come back on
