TVP in veggie burgers?

What do I add to TVP to make a good veggie burger?

I got some to try with, I've had premade ones with TVP, but never tried myself to make them. It would be cheaper, and probably better.

  1. seance you have never made them before it is better to stick to the pre-made version. You might think it is cheaper but if you don't like it then you have wasted time and money.

  2. TVP Burger

Soak ¾ of a cup of TVP in a covered bowl with ¾ cup boiling water and leave to soak for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, add 1 egg replacer, ¼ cup oats, ¼ finely chopped onion, 3 tablespoons self- raising flour, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon ketchup, 1 teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon pepper to the soaked TVP and mix thoroughly together.

Shape the mixture into patties or cover and refrigerate the mixture for at least 20 minutes so it firms up and makes it easier to shape

    Fry the patties in oil.

  3. You could add some A1 or HP to the KD

  4. I cup TVP hydrated with 1 cup hot water.

Add 1/2 cup wheat gluten flour and 1/2 cup soy protein powder and mix thoroughly. Mix desired salt, dry seasoning and/or powdered dry mushrooms with dry ingredients before adding to TVP.

Add whatever seasoning or sauce you would like such as BBQ and add a few tablespoons or more of oil or shortening to make them moist and not rubbery.

Form patties and steam for at least 2 hours. When done, you may fry, bake or barbecue with any additional sauce or seasoning.
