This is a totally of the wall random question. But I'm curious. If two twin females, both marry two males that are also twins, will their kids look identical, since they both look the same and have the same genes...?

  1. Well that depends. It's the genes that make people look like what they are. It just matters how they combine with eachother. They may look similar, but not too similar.

  2. They would look alot alike, but not identical, because there is no way to guarantee that the kids of the "twin couples" would get the same sets of genes from the parents as each other.  For example: Lets say that all four of the parents have brown eyes.  Brown is a dominant gene.  But lets say that all of them carry the recessive gene for blue eyes.  Each couple would have a 25% chance of having a blue eyed child, and a 75% of having a brown eyed child; because for a child to have blue eyes, the child would have had to of inherited a blue eyed recessive gene from EACH parent, whereas the brown eyed child could have inherited one blue eye gene and one brown eye gene but since brown is dominant the kid will have brown eyes.  Depending on which genes were passed to the offspring, Cousin A could have brown eyes while Cousin B has blue eyes.  Hopefully I explained that in a way that makes sense!

  3. No, they would not be identical, but they would probably look alike.  Probably look like brother and sister more than cousins.

  4. From a scientific point of view, the children of identical twins are the genetic equivalent of half-siblings rather than cousins. So, if identical twins marry another set of identical twins, then the resulting children would be the genetic equivalent of full siblings.

That said, It would be logical to presume that their children would all just look like siblings from the same family.

  5. The will look related, but not identical. The genes have many ways of combining, just take a look at children born to the same parents- they don't all look exactly the same.

  6. OMG!!! I asked my science teacher this when I was in High School!!! She could not answer me! I would think they would look somewhat alike, but they could get different things from different family members, but I would like to think they would all look alike! So weird! I thought I was the only one that wondered this! :)
