The Moroccan midfielder has signed a new deal at Loftus Road and looks set to put the woes of a below-part season behind him.
Having lit up the Championship during his time as skipper, much was expected of Adel Taarabt as Queens Park Rangers returned to the English top flight.
A creative play-maker, with a tendency to drift past his man, the 23-year-old garnered rave reviews for his performances and was the subject of a lucrative bid from French side Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
Taarabt, tempted by the prospect of a bigger pay check and a more glamorous stage to exhibit his talents, had his heart set on a transfer to Ligue 1 but manager Neil Warnock had other ideas and in the end refused to let him leave London.
As a result, he was sidelined for most of the club’s Premier League season and was even stripped of the captaincy. However with Mark Hughes taking charge at the helm, his future changed immediately and he was given a chance to impress the new boss.
The former Lens man did exactly that and by the end of the campaign had regained his lost prestige amongst the fans. QPR also showed their renewed faith in the player and offered him the chance of extending his run with the team.
With both parties in agreement, a new contract has been penned and according to an official statement, Taarabt will be staying put at least for another three years.
“QPR talisman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adel-Taarabt-c3610 has signed a new long-term contract at Loftus Road. The magical Moroccan – who will wear the number 10 shirt next season – has put pen to paper on a three-year extension, tying him to the Club until the summer of 2016.”
“The 23 year-old – who signed permanently from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2010 following two successful loan spells at Loftus Road – has made 123 appearances in all competitions for the Club, scoring 29 goals,” read the announcement on the team’s website.
Despite the presence of some quality players, Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 avoided relegation only on the last match day and will have turn up their performances if they are to challenge for a mid-table finish next term.
