The Moroccan international had been linked with a move out of the club for quite some time and it was believed that he would finally exit the team this summer.
French Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint-Germain were closing in on the player's capture last season, but their interest soon dried out, as the two teams couldn't agree on a transfer fee.
The player has now said that he wishes to extend his stay at the club and is willing to put pen to paper on a new contract.
Taarabt also revealed that a number of Premier League teams had made offers for him, but he hasn’t really followed up with them, because of his dedication to QPR.
His contract is set to run out in 2013 and as a result, the team needs to decide whether they want to keep a hold of him or not.
He said: "I want to stay at QPR. I have received offers from other Premier League clubs, but my deal is signed until June 2013 and I want to increase the contract.
"My agent has a document from the club about their long-term project, and it's very interesting to me."
Last season he went on to make twenty seven appearances and managed to score a mere two goals for the team.
These standards are rather low for a midfielder, who was being eyed by some of the top teams across Europe.
In the 2010-2011 season, Taarabt went on to prove just how good he can really be. He made forty four appearances for the club and scored nineteen goals.
However, apart from that he had numerous assists, which saw him become a fan favourite.
There were questions about the player’s attitude and his dedication to the club, but all of those seem to have been swept aside now.
Nonetheless, Taarabt has now made his intentions clear and it is the clubs turn to decide just what they want to do. Should they fail to offer him a contract, they could risk watching him leave for free at the end of the coming season.
