Question:

Table Assignment Card Question?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

When I fill out the table assignment cards, can I couple people up...

Mr. & Mrs. John Smith

Table 3

Or should each individual have their own table card. What if it's a family, would it be appropriate to write

The Smith Family

Table 3

I'm only asking about the table cards, I know that each person gets their own place card.

Thank you in advance for the answers!

  1. Yes it would be OK to couple up a husband and wife like Mr and Mrs Smith, I really could not say about the family but it seem OK to me.

  2. I think either way would be perfectly acceptable. The only problem you might have is if you were planning to split up family members. For example, at most of my family weddings all of the cousins sit together at one table (because they're all aged 16-21) while their parents (brothers and sisters) sit at the table next to them. In that case you'd be better off giving individual cards. If you're planning to sit all the family members together though, I think the family/couple cards are fine.

Unless there are 2 or more families with the same surname that you are seating at different tables- that could be confusing. You could also use individual cards in this instance or put something like: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and family / Mr. and Mrs. Bob Smith and family so they know which family you are referring to.

  3. To couple people up is most definitely fine but the "Smith Family" I'm not too sure about!

  4. You will want to make sure that you sit families with eachother, so to save on time and money, it is perfectly fine to say "The Smith Family", and or Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Family. You can really make it whatever you want, its your day, and your WAY!

  5. You are going to have two sets of cards?? too much.

Do one set with every person's name and table # they can take the card to their table and put it down at a seat of there choice.

  6. mr and mrs is perfect....for the family it would have to be Mr and Mrs Jon Smith and family, because if you have two families coming with the same last name you have to be more specific...

  7. I only had special tables reserved for the immediate family, the other guests were allowed to sit where they wanted to .  I also had one special table for the spouses of the people in the wedding party.

  8. my wedding etiquette book says for the table assignment card it should be couples, not individual, but then like you said for the place card each person gets their own.
