Question:

Table Decorating Ideas needed?

I need creative ideas to decorate a round table w/10 place settings. This is for a luncheon and table decorating contest. I'm thinking of doing a Garden of Eden table. I would like it to be colorful--flowers, animals, candles, etc. I'm also wanting to incorporate scripture with my table. Any ideas?

  1. I like the idea of the garden of eden theme.   You definately need to use a few apples in that setting!

For the centerpiece you could use a pedestal bowl of them.

Lots of greenery and a rubber snake

A nice place card with caligraphy scripture on it at each setting would be neat too!

  2. how about using banana leaves as place mats, you can make fruit using marzipan and have displayed on the table or use as part of menu. Ivy draped/looped through the backs of chairs looks good and you can spray it with glitter/silver/white sprays to add effect. If you can't think of where to write your verse, how about putting it on the menu somewhere, or on place settings. Candles are nice but I prefer tea lights, you can drop them into small glass holders and paint the holders all kinds of colours for real atmosphere. Good luck.

  3. How is this for something different. White table cloth, silver knifes and forks and spoons, white plates. Plain and simple for a change. No eloborate decorations.

  4. Get mini trees, and apple ornaments to hang on the branches.  Some plastic snakes, and fig leaves to scatter on the table(s).   float aromatic flowers, such as gardenias or tuberose, in clear glass bowls.

    here are some verses

  5. A fake tree centerpiece, with a small snake in the branches .... Cut a slit into the top of 10 red apples, and stick placecards into them ... Get big fig leaves (or cut construction paper ones) and use them as placemats .... use cardboard tubes (like inside paper towels) as napkin rings.  Cut into 2" pieces; spray paint.  When dry, use black marker pen to write something from scripture on each one ....   If you can find a piece of artificial grass (or use green Easter grass), put the tree centerpiece on it, and scatter little artificial flowers around the base of the tree, and maybe around the table.  Maybe attach a few little birds to the tree ......

If you want more animals, maybe a Noah's Ark theme would work better ....  with a wooden ark centerpiece, on a piece of scrunched-up blue fabric (to simulate waves)...a different animal at each placesetting .... olive branches...etc...
