Table tennis question?

I have been regularly versing my best friend at table tennis for the past 4 years. He has been playing tennis since he was six so he was far better than me to begin with. He never went easy on me, so I would always get throttled until I developed to his standard. Because he constantly bombarded me with power shots, I quickly developed a strong defensive game, and can hit back nearly anything. The problem is, I have absolutely no offense and cannot hit winners. I rely primarily on his mistakes to win points. He is the only person I ever play so how can I improve the offensive side of my game?

  1. focus on how he beats u. then do what he does to win the game.  also try hitting the ball so it lands really close to the edge. that's what i do.

  2. defensive table tennis player could be very effective and winning a lot of games by, you said it, your opponent's mistakes.  it is nothing wrong with this style of play, many top level table tennis players are the defensive players.

you need to practice your regular shots by finding a hitting partner who can feed you the balls.

you can also add different type of spins like underspin and sidespin which will force him make more errors.

    good luck
