Tachometer spun right around

Question

my tach spun around past 8 ,and when bike is off it sits at the 6 o clock position , when i fire it up it moves in the right direction but stops at the resting pin (its on the wrong side of the pin )

Seriously Jeff are you brain dead. Your just f*cking with the electrics on it and more than likely will cause other problems. And what ever you do now you have to remember for later or the next poor bugger to work on it won't know whats going on. Easier and safer to get a new tacho. Tho if it happens again get it looked at by an auto sparky.

your tach has had a voltage surge ,disconect the pos to the coil ,add a 470 ohm resitor in series to the pos ,re connect this to the neg , disconect the the trigger signal on the #one coil ,take your neg wire and touch it to the pos connection .... watch your tach needle ....it will slowly work backwards continue until it reaches the stop pin . reconnect tach as before .   ps  any dummy can tell you to buy a new tach , you don't need to here it on a problem solving site ...GOOD LUCK .

Get a new tachometer, it's not worth your trouble, won't be accurate even if you managed to fix it.
