My saddle is an oak bark color. My new horse is black. I need new briddle. I know the horse would look better in black but then it wont match the saddle. I dont want to purchase a new saddle. Would it be okay to have a black horse in an oakbark briddle? Suggestions???

  1. I prefer to see a dark horse in light leather and a light horse in dark leather....ie a gray in black, a black in london tan/oakbark and a medium colored horse in havanna, but it's personal preference too.  If it's so important to you to have a black bridle and a saddle to match you can always have the saddle dyed black, but as a word to the wise, have a professional do it, if not properly dyed and sealed, you could stain your breeches black everytime you ride.

  2. When I was saddle shopping I was told that if your horse is a dark color you should use light tack.  So apparently you shouldn't use a black bridle on a black horse... you should actually use a tan bridle on a black horse.  I'm not entirely sure how dark oakbark is, but I'm sure it's fine.  Most people have dark brown bridles and use them on any horse.  No one really looks at your bridle anyway.
