  1. Yes indeed you are correct , they were owned by the same guy that owned the Blazo Pie Shops and Restaurants, they had about six of them in Michigan, I used to cut the lawn with one of the Blazo boys for a summer job.

  2. Back in the mid-late 70's there was a Taco plaza in garland, Tx. It was there for a couple of years then became a Taco Casa. Casa only lasted 6 -8 months and closed down. About 2 years ago Taco Casa opened on the other side of town for the first time in about 30 years and they are WAY better than the local taco bells and taco buenos.  I remember Taco Plaza had every kind of nacho you could imagine and this other thing they called a melt-burrito.

  3. there was one at, 9 mile & Telegraph, then it turned into a Taco Bell in the 80's. I always thought Taco Plaza's food was much better quality and taste... and I don't think they had a drive-thru window then either, just dine-in or carry out only.

  4. My first job was at Taco Plaza in Dearborn Heights.. I remember Ted Nugent advertisment for Wango Taco's..  The place converted to a Taco Bell a few years later

  5. yes.  the last taco plaza store was in Vernon, TX and it shut down in '99.  Taco Casa bought the recipes and still makes a decent version of them today if you have one near you.

  6. Yes, we had one in Grand Prairie, Tx back in the 80's. I remember I loved their gringo burgers....and I make my own version now for my kids. They taste awesome.
