Tactician Gladiator Chris Larson says Nacho Postigo, Tony Langley did a great job: Audi TP52 Worlds
Great Britain’s TP52 yacht, Gladiator, had a great start at the beginning of the 2011 Audi TP52 World Championship in Sardinia, as they clinched an early lead on Day 1 but the squad could not maintain their advantage and tumbled a place down. However, they
are still in the top-three with 10 points and can clinch back the lead at any moment.
Gladiator finished second in the only race on Day 3, which was shifted from Costa Smeralda to the north in Secca dei Tre Monti region. American tactician on British boat, Chris Larson, is satisfied with the team’s performance and believes both skipper, Tony
Langley and navigator, Nacho Postigo have done a great job on Day 3 to bring the team at this level.
While speaking to reporters at the conclusion of third day, Larson said, “I gave the start up a little bit, trying to be a little too fancy with too many downspeed manoeuvres, and that cost us so we had to bale out get right by taking a few sterns, it was
how to get there. We found a little lane to get us there and the boat is quick in this stuff and that helped us out.”
He added, “We hit a perfect layline, we tacked 15 degrees short of layline and got a shift, 15 degrees with a puff and that got us around, it was fantastic. Nacho (Postigo, navigator) and Tony (Langley, owner-helm) both did a great job and that helped us
out from my bad start.”
