Tadahiro Takayama claims the Token Homemate Cup – Japan Golf Tour
The Japan Golf Tour event of Token Homemate Cup came to a conclusion yesterday at the par-71, Token Tado Country Club. Tadahiro Takayama emerged as the champion after the final round concluded yesterday. He won by a margin of two shots.
The 33-year-old Takayama played well during the final round. There was a bit of pressure on his shoulders but he successfully managed his way and went on to win the championship. Takayama carded a moderate final round of one-under par, 70 on the final day.
He started the day well by making a birdie in his very first hole.
Takayama had a total of five birdies and four bogeys. He was one shot clear of the field when he started his day. The veteran came up to the expectation of many and went on to be the champion. He was a bit wayward on a few holes as he made four bogeys. The
five birdies helped him curb the challenge of his opponents as he comfortably won the championship.
This was the first event of this season of Japan Golf Tour. Takayama’s two shot victory was a great one for him, as this gave him a lot of confidence. The Japanese professional looked a bit nervous when he started the day. As he made a birdie on the first
hole, it gave him a great start and played well on the final decisive day.
The veteran claimed his fourth win playing on the Japan Tour. With this win, his career victories as a professional increased to six. This was the second time that he claimed this title. His break-through career victory came in 2005 in this very championship.
Takayama finished the tournament having a total score of eight-under par, 276.
Experienced Shingo Katayama finished at the second spot. He also carded a final round of one-under par, 70, but it was not enough to match the winner’s score. Katayama had two bogeys and three birdies in his round.
The 38-year-old Katayama finished the tournament having a total score of six-under par, 278.
The teenager Ryo Ishikawa came third. He played in his own style on the final day by carding a round of one-over par, 72. Ishikawa had five bogeys followed by four birdies on his score-card. He was not much comfortable on the final day as the conditions
were not easy for the players. Although he finished third, he was still in contention on the final day.
The 19-year-old Ishikawa had a four-day aggregate score of five-under par, 279.
Brendan Jones of Australia and Nobuhiro Masuda were tied for the fourth position.
Takayama picked up with championship trophy in a prize distribution ceremony. He also received a cheque of ¥26,000,000.
