Tadahiro Takayama leads Token Homemate Cup by just a single shot – Japan Golf Tour
Three rounds of the Token Homemate Cup have been completed. There was not much change in the leader board as the third day commenced. Tadahiro Takayama posted his name on top of the score board and leads
by a single shot.
Takayama played well on the third day where the conditions were a little tough for the players. He carded a great round of three-under par, 68 and moved in the lead. The 33-year-old played well during
his round. He made eight birdies and had five drop shots. These five bogeys came on the hole numbers 5, 7, 9, 10, and the closing par-4, 18th.
The veteran was very much content with the way he has been playing during all the three rounds. This was another great performance on the third day where some players failed to card under par rounds. He
did not feel the pressure of his opponents and carved his way on the leader board.
Takayama has a three-day aggregate score of seven-under par, 206 and has a lead of just a single shot. He needs to play well on the final day Sunday to curb the challenge of his nearest competitors. If
he can hold on to his nerves, then he will be able to capture another title in his career. He won his third victory last year playing on this tour. This will be his first win this season as the veteran looks confident ahead of the final round.
His nearest competitor, young Ryo Ishikawa is just one shot behind. Ishikawa carded a round of two-under par, 69 which included four birdies. The teenager also made two bogeys on the third day. This will
be an interesting battle as the youngster will hope to win his tenth victory playing on the Japan Golf Tour.
This will be Ryo’s first victory this season if he is able to put up a great show against the leader on the final day. He won three tournaments last year and is confident of adding another one to his career
bag.
Overnight leader Shingo Katayama did not play good golf on the third day. He looked under pressure from the start. His score of four-over par, 75, shows that he had some problems playing in tough conditions.
He has a three-day score of five-under par, 208 and is just two shots behind the veteran leader. He also has a chance on the final day if he can hold his nerves.
Katayama was disappointed with the way he played on the third day. Nothing seemed to be going right for him. He also had problems with his swing due to which he carded a disastrous round.
The final round of the tournament will commence tomorrow. The youngster Ishikawa will be charging on the leader board as he is in contention to winning the championship.
