Taddy Blazusiak clinches Enduro X gold at X Games Foz do Iguaçu
Polish rider Taddy Blazusiak walked away with top honours from the Enduro X finals at the X Games Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil on Thursday, April 18, 2013.
America’s Cody Webb finished in second place to get hold of the silver medal, while David Knight rounded out the top-three to take home the silver medal.
The EnduroCross circuit promised to deliver a heavy dose of thrilling action as some of the most exciting riders from around the globe were all set to take each other on in a battle for the coveted X Games gold.
Getting around the finish line first to grab victory may have been the biggest motivation for the riders to push themselves hard, but another thing that caused them to go beyond their limits was the fact that there was a massive crowd watching them. If there
was ever an opportunity for them to have their skills acknowledged, it was now.
Once the 15-man final got underway, the 2011 X Games Los Angeles gold medallist Blazusiak found himself receiving a tough fight from last year’s silver medallist Webb. Both the riders kept testing each other through all six laps in the final, making the
already challenging course appear even more challenging due to the constant pressure that hung over their head.
Blazusiak took an early lead after fighting for it with Knight, but ended up losing it to Webb. Both the riders kept losing the lead to each other after that.
Once the dust settled, however, Blazusiak was the one who had managed to get across the finish line before the American rider, thus grabbing the gold medal.
"I don't know how it looks on TV but I have never ridden something as hard as this track," Blazusiak said after finals. "It's so slick ... I'm super stoked on first place. I gave it all I had and I'm so pumped."
Webb finished behind him in second place, a result that he hardly had a reason to feel disappointed about, as he could hardly have put on a better performance than the one he did.
Knight held on to his third place until the end to secure the last remaining spot on the podium.
