Tadeas Zdarsky proceeds to second stage of qualification round in 2012 Victor Slovak Open
Slovakia’s spirited shuttler Tadeas Zdarsky played with great precision and overpowered Edgaras Slusnys in his opening encounter of the qualification round in Victor Slovak Open on September 6, 2012.
This hard fought battle kept both contenders head-to-head for 31 minutes and ended with the final result of 21-18, 4-21 and 21-14.
The local badminton arena of Presov was filled to the brim as a huge crowd assembled to support the native shuttler.
Men's Singles expert Tadeas Zdarsky lived up to expectations and gave them something to celebrate by claiming the opening and ending match points.
On the other hand, Edgaras Slusnys put a fluctuated performance and crashed out of the event in disgraceful manner.
The battle heated up straight away in the first set as Tadeas did not give his rival enough time to get settled and snatched a vital match point on merit.
In the beginning, he took some time to gain the right momentum but then never looked back after establishing a comfortable lead.
He carried this rhythm in next couple of rallies and managed to place an overwhelming total of 21-18 at the end of the opening game.
However, he proved a sitting duck in the very next set as Edgaras hunted him down with ease. This time the Lithuanian campaigner stunned everyone with a splendid show of badminton skills.
He made his intentions clear by grabbing some consecutive points in the beginning and then strengthened his grip over game with some back-to-back productive rallies.
At mid-game break, Edgaras was enjoying the upper hand with a respectable score position of 11 and he made best out of this advantage in later part of the game.
He injected more intensity in his attack and confined the opposing shuttler to the rear court. He maintained a significant lead and finished the second set with a convincing figure of 21-4.
With this revised status, the third set became crucial and both shuttlers pushed each other in all areas of the court to bag this final match point.
The local campaigner showed his class in the second half of the set and left his competitor far behind. He raised his hands as victor after putting 21-14 score on the board.
Now Tadeas is scheduled to meet Kamil Kanas in second stage of the qualification round.
