Tadpole questions?

I work at petsmart and yesterday I noticed a tadpole swimming around with the feeder fish. I took him home and put him in our small (maybe four feet wide and 1 1/2 foot deep) man-made pond. i also bought him some frog and tadpole bites from petsmart. I'm a little worried about him because I don’t know if h**l be able to find the dark food in his dark pond and also, I live in a mountainous area of Colorado and it gets pretty cold up here. Its warm now but will I have to bring him in before winter? Finally, he’s about 3 ½ inches and spotty... I assume he’s a common native Colorado frog. Any ideas on what kind he might be? Thanks for any answers or further advice!
