Question:

Tadpoles Sudden Death

I found a tadpole in a pond just under a week ago. I brought it home and have been feeding it.... it grew use-able legs and arms ere sprouting out... this morning it was swimming and healthy and this afternoon... I found it dead on its back. I bought a bullfrog tadpole yesterday and they have been living together.

Does anybody know why this happened?

  1. Tadpoles can be pretty sensitive.  If the water got to warm is one reason.  He might not have had the right stuff to eat either.  I eventually had to let my tadpole -> tiny frog go cuz I couldn't find enough aphids/tiny insects for it.  Perhaps that's what happened.

  2. uh... eww dude.

throw the dead tadpole away. dont let the live tadpole live with the dead one.

by the way, it probably died because it was not quite used to being kept in captivity.

  3. probably didn't feed it the right food

  4. I would have put it into a land/water tank right when it started growing arms.  with a little pond and a rock beach and rock land be sure to keep it humid.?.
