  1. I know lthere are some bjj tounys held in jax florida the next one is in oct.at the national guard armory on normandy blvd . check out jaxbjjopen.com for apps and rules

  2. There are some sites out there that'll list some. You can Google or use Yahoo! to find them--search for "grappling tournament" or "karate tournament."

This site is pretty good for karate tournaments: http://www.karatetournaments.com/ I checked Georgia and surrounding areas, and they've got a number of them listed.

And some karate tournaments are now adding grappling or jiu jitsu divisions or categories.

Often, though, I find listings on the bulletin boards of the different schools that teach jiu jitsu and grappling.

A bit of boasting and background: My son started out studying martial arts; took up wrestling in high school, then added no-gi. (Has never taken formal classes in gi competition; hates the feel of the gi, but keeps winning medals in gi...as well as no gi.) Next skill to learn: Muy Thai. As you may have guessed, his goal is MMA.

We find most of the tournaments through the schools he studies at, and at other martial arts schools. Martial arts schools tend to have their own networks set up, and keep in close touch with what's going on.

    Good luck.

    Hope that helps.

  3. Try NAGA for the BJJ... they have the best tournaments throughout the South...

Word up brudda!! Choke some fools!! =)

  4. All of that goes through your instructor. You have to talk to him about competitions.

  5. A 2nd vote for NAGA (North American Grappling Association) for your BJJ.

As for the TKD, the big tournaments are listed on USA TKD website, but the smaller local tournaments are not.

You should ask your instructor about local ones.  Sometimes the masters don't tell their students about tournaments because they want maximum attendance at their own tournaments.  Our instructor is like this, he only tells the "sparring team" about all the tournaments, but doesnt tell the general student population about them.  If your school doesnt have a sparring team, then ask him, he surely knows.

  6. Dude I wish I could help you but I've been looking for tournaments too in BJJ. I can't find any here in the St.Louis area.

  7. The No Gi Pan American Games is being held in New York on October 4th. Also check out NAGA.
