How do you tell what size you need?

Do i want it to fit loose or tighter?

Is it good to wear an undershirt?

Is there anything i should know about the uniform?

  1. From my experience, as I have trained in Tae Kwon Do for a couple of years, I would say the following:

    1) The uniforms I had, had sizes according to height, so if you are 180 cm then a 180 suite should be fine.

    2) You would like to have it loose so you would be able to perform all the techniques without the uniform constraining you.

I would also pay attention that the pants and arm sleeves are not too long, as it can be very annoying.

    3) My teacher recommended wearing an undershirt, and I tend to agree. You may feel more comfortable wearing a shirt under your uniform, but it also depends on the temperature where you train.

Two more points are: 1st, you can begin training without a uniform and ask your instructor for tips (where to buy - maybe there's a discount you can make use of, what size).

2nd is that the uniform will appear pretty loose when you try it on without a belt.

If it gets hot where you train, you might want to consider getting a fabric which breathes more.

And one last final tip. I would ask my instructor if it's OK to choose a color other than white. I personally like the black ones, but that's just a matter of style.

  2. it should be loose so that you can move i dont have to wear an under shirt but if you are female i sugest it. notmally the gi size is made for your height so if you are 190 cm buy a size 190

  3. you tell your size by how your jacket fits. like if you jacket is a size five you get size five pants also. you tell your jacket size by when you put it on stick your arms straight out and it your sleeves are at the end of your hand where your wrists start its the right size. your pants may be a little long depending but you can hem them. its better to have it a little loose so when you test you look proper and your uniform isnt to tightt. at my taekwondo place you can by undershirts where to classes. otherwise i would just wear a white one cause it can get pretty hot wiht your jacket on too.

    thats about it :]

    good luck and have fun!

  4. It depends on type of uniform you get.  Go to a martial arts supply store and look at the sizing chart.  Also your school's instructor can help you fit a uniform properly.  There are two popular styles, the Pull-over and the cross-over jacket(what you see in movies like the Karate Kid).  I like a little looser fitting because it allows more mobility with preforming task. As for the undershirt, I go with one personally for the cross-over jacket because my uniform comes untied it's not showing my chest hair and such.  make sure you hem your pants up properly.  my first class I ripped mine because I didn't sew them. also if you have any patches wash the uniform in cold water so the colors won't bleed
