Question:

Tae Kwon Do and sweaty, slippery feet..help!?

I've started taking Tae Kwon Do again, but can't stop sweating. I'm told it's a condition known as hyperhydrosis(or some such). This is preventing me from moving due to extremely slippery surfaces. Does anyone know of a remedy for this? I know there is nothing I can ever do to stop the sweating, save for an operation, but maybe something I can wear that's TKD approved? I can't be the first person in the history of the planet to sweat too much and do martial arts.

  1. i have the same problem.

  2. Baby powder your feet?

  3. You can buy the tae kwon do shoes that would help the "slipperyness" but the downside is that the shoe would be really sweaty although it would not affect your performance. The shoes have a rubber sole and a "pivot point" and I don't think it's possible for them to be slippery.

  4. try wearing an ankle brace for your feet or look into buying wrestling/martial arts shoes.

if of course this is okay with you instructor.

as far as the Hyperhydrosis... can't help you there. sorry...

  5. When i was young i trained martial arts like you sweat-ed a lot (till today) i wore Judo training cloth because they absorb sweat much better.

As a instructor you do not move so much so you can wear those Tea kwon do " pajamas"  cloth .

Hope i have helped you enough.
