Question:

Taekwondo tips for the extreme newbie?

I just transferred to a new university as a sophomore chick, and I noticed that this campus has a Taekwondo club/class. They have a slot for beginners three times a week.

I'm very out of shape and am wanting to lose about 80lbs. I can hardly do one push up and am very intimidated at the thought of going into a class where I'm expected and pushed to do all of this.

Do you think I'll be okay and that the progress will be slow enough that I'll be able to learn the fundamentals?

Thanks.

  1. The longest journey starts with the first step. I was in bad shape when I started Taekwando and I am 105 pounds lighter and can do well over 100 push ups.I started late in life and am an instructor now. You can do it if you try. You have to want it though.

My advice to people who are in bad shape who come to our school is to come on in and we will work with you. Most good schools will. Go for it. Better late than never.

  2. well..... you hav to start somewhere.

  3. try it out and learn at your own pace. everyone has to start somewhere and im sure they will be friendly/helpful.

just do your best. remember to practice and stretch
