Tag for my car question?

i just bought a car from a seller not a dealership and i have a bill of sale and the title signed to me but my question is if i get stopped by the police will i get in trouble or something? what do i need to do? should i take the tag off and put a tag applied for sign there?

i would go to the dmv and get the car re-registered in your name so if you do get stopped by the cops you will have proof that the car is yours and not somebody elses and have the bill of sale with you at the dmv for the new tags and good luck

leave the car as is but get down to the dmv quickly, so that you can get your own plates for the vehicle along with a current registration.
