Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying showed a wonderful performance on court and reached into Women’s Singles final after ending up the winning run of Korea’s Sung Ji Hyun in semi-final showdown at Yonex Japan Open 2012 at Tokyo, Japan, on Saturday, September 22.
The impressive Tzu Ying, who is World Number 12 and seeded at number five in the tournament, played to her maximum speed and maintained pressure on her second seeded Korean rival when it mattered most and eventually won the battle in hard-fought rubber games.
Tzu Ying played quivering game in opening set but proved her mettle by taking the second game in a crushing fashion. She remained on track in the deciding set and won it in a decent fashion to end up the contest in 63 minutes.
In the meanwhile, the World Number Eight Ji Hyun played impressive badminton and took the first game easily. However, she faced a tough resistance in the following games and failed to overpower her rival who won the battle with a reasonable margin on the board.
The first set was impressive when both ladies played top quality badminton. However, the Korean took over the control and set up a convincing lead until the break.
After the interval, the Taipei player injected more power into her shots but failed to control the pace and lost the set with a 16-21 score on the board.
The following game was shocking for the Korean player who could not cope up with the attacking play of her Taipei opponent and remained struggling until the break.
After the interval, Tzu Ying continued her positive and better play and remained successful in making the score levelled by taking the second set with a killing margin of 21-13.
In the decider, Tzu Ying did not let her Korean rival to put up strong resistance as she played dominating badminton all the way to snatch the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
Tzu Ying showed no mercy to Ji Hyun and sent her packing in three games with a decent margin of 16-21, 21-13 and 21-17.
