Tai Tzu Ying stuns Wang Yihan in Women’s Singles quarter-final of the 2011 French Open Super Series
Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying has delivered a stunning performance as she defeated the top seed Wang Yihan of China in the Women’s Singles quarter-final of the 2011 French Open Super Series, on Friday, October 28, at Paris, France.
The World Number 17 Tzu Ying showed that she is ready to take the bigger challenges as she crushed the World Number One Yihan in straight games without showing any mercy. The Taipei shuttler took just 34 minutes to chuck out the Chinese and reserved her
place in the semi-final of the event.
The opening set remained close until the final points when Tzu Ying played impressive badminton and took the set. In the second game, the Taipei lady remained miles ahead against the top seed and won it with a considerable ease as Yihan failed to play well.
The starting points of the first game were thrilling when both ladies moved around in the court with an incredible speed. Their impressive skills grabbed the interest of the crowd as they played in all areas of the court to take an early lead. However, the
score remained equal until the ending points in the first half.
In the second part of the game, the Taipei lady accelerated her speed in the rear-court area and executed powerful smashes which destroyed the defence of the Chinese. Tzu Ying continued her convincing game and won the set with a three-point difference of
21-18.
In the second set, the Chinese failed to resist as she made many mistakes in the opening rallies. Tzu Ying remained successful in setting up an early lead and also maintained it in the whole set. Her planned and impressive game pushed the Chinese on the
back foot.
Tzu Ying continued her dominating performance against the Chinese who was playing under pressure. The Taipei lady took the second set with a stunning score of 21-13 by playing positive badminton. The final score of this straight-set match was 21-18 and 21-13.
In the semi-final Tzu Ying will take on Xuerui Li of China, who defeated Sayaka Sato of Japan in the quarter-final match.
