Taj Burrow and Adriano De Souza qualify for the finals: 2011 Billabong Rio Pro
It’s been a pleasure to announce that Taj Burrow of Australia and Adriano De Souza of Brazil have booked their places in surfing for the final of
2011 Billabong Rio Pro at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil today.
In the first semi-final heat, Taj Burrow beat Jeremy Flores of France with a comprehensive margin of 16.27 to 10.50 (out of 20) at Barra da Tijuca.
Meanwhile, Flores said that he was immensely determined for this heat for the reason that it’s indeed his first major surfing event of the year, wherein he is feeling good physically. He did the whole lot right. He rested and he has trained, he did each
thing he could to do well for himself in surfing.
“The waves have been tough the whole event, but when we could get two or three good turns in we got some big scores. I’m happy with the result, but I wish I could have got some more waves in the Semifinal,” said Flores.
On the other hand, the Brazilian surfer, Adriano de Souza, has won the second semi-final heat against Bede Durbidge of Australia with a fringe margin of 9.00 to 8.40 at Rio de Janeiro this week.
After the heat, Durbidge said that De Souza captured the entire attentions of the crowd due to his most aggressive and versatile performance in the respective heat and he has really fizzed and he only had the worst heat at Rio de Janeiro.
“If I knew I only needed a 4 at the end I probably would have surfed differently. A 3rd is the best result of the year for me and it’s good to get some momentum going and know I can win heats again and build some confidence going into J Bay,” said Durbidge.
The final heat will be conducted between the two well-known surfers of the world Adriano de Souza and Taj Burrow at Rio de Janeiro.
Both are very competitive surfers and they have the corresponding traits with each other. They have the natural stance and symbolic speed in surfing.
Taj Burrow has been the 2007 Rip Curl Pro Champion at Bells Beach. Additionally, he has won the Billabong Pipeline Masters title at Banzai Pipeline in 2009.
On the other side, De Souza, who took an immense inspiration from Mick Fanning, will have the upper hand over Burrow in the final heat today.
He has the specialisation in Trestles, whereas his hot favourite manoeuvres are Boosting airs. He has won the Billabong Pro Mundaka title in 2009.
It is expected that final heat of the 2011 Billabong Rio Pro will be very exciting and thrilling heat between Burrow and de Souza in surfing at Rio de Janeiro today.
