Taj Gibson: We’re not even thinking about Rose – NBA Update
For the last two seasons, Chicago Bulls had been the best team from the Eastern Conference, racking him impressive records both home and away. And without much to anybody’s surprise, the major reason for that was the presence of
elite point guard and one time MVP, Derrick Rose.
Rose has been the main reason behind the first resurgence that the Bulls have made after the Michael Jordan era. He is not only the best player in the team, but also the best point guard in the league, and perhaps the only player
in the Bulls roster who can make clutch plays. That fact became evident in the last seven games, when the Bulls went 3-4, and lost most of their games down the stretch.
Chicago are 8-7 into the season, and as had been anticipated before the season started, they are desperately waiting for D-Rose to make a comeback from the torn ACL injury he had suffered in the game 1 of the first round of playoffs
last season, to inject life into the Bulls campaign. However, Taj Gibson, the reserve centre, who has been having a nightmare of a season so far, does not want the people to have that impression.
According to him, all the good in the windy city, even with Rose;
“Really we’re not even thinking about Rose,” Gibson said. “We’re thinking about getting everybody good reps, everyone getting better, guys watching film, guys understanding we have to do more.”
When asked about the recent late game struggles, the centre seemed confident in the abilities of the players available.
“After the fact, they can say that, but right now we don’t have Derrick,” Gibson said.”We have other guys that are here right now that have to put in the work and fill that slot until Derrick gets back. Right now Derrick is on
his rehab, and there’s no pressure on him. We’re just letting him work.”
The Bulls have been relying on Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah and Richard Hamilton in the absence of Rose. Although the record is decent till date, the Bulls are at maximum a 50 percent team with Rose, and if they are to
qualify at a high seed going into the playoffs, the point guard will have to return as quickly as possible.
