Tajaaweed on the road to redemption when he takes on rivals in the Grade 3 River City Handicap
The 6-year-old Tajaaweed has had an up and down 2011 season, where he has managed to find glory in between some ordinary performances which has made the Daniel Peitz trained runner a little unpredictable at times, but one thing Tajaaweed has done consistently this season is to rise up after being down in the dumps.
The non threatening, dismal performance in the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland 3 months back is crying for a comeback race where he manages to either win it or at least finish on the money to keep his respect in the racing arena intact.
Now, the son of Dynaformer, out of mare Uforia by Zilzal, Tajaaweed will be looking to rectify his bad trip last time out in the Grade 3, $100,000 – added River City Handicap held at Churchill Downs on 19 November, 2011.
There he will break from extreme inside post number 8, carrying top weight of 119 pounds under jockey L Castanon against seven other 3-year-old males and up which will grind it out over the Churchill Downs turf track at about 1 1/8 miles.
Tajaaweed has had his moments this year when after two back to back second place finishes in an allowance claimer and in the Openinig Verse Stakes at Churchill Downs, Tajaaweed went back to Arlington Park to participate in the 1 ¼ mile Grade 3 Arlington Handicap on turf.
He managed to hold his position in the stretch, and fended off crucial challenges from Mister Marti Gras and Dean’s Kitten, who finished second and third, respectively, winning the race with the winning time of 2 minutes and 1.83 seconds.
Under J Graham, Tajaaweed was then pointed toward Grade 1 Arlington Million against a heavy caste including the Irish invader Cape Blanco and the local hero Gio Ponti.
Tajaaweed didn’t stand a chance against the two as he finished off the board in sixth position as Cape Blanco enjoyed his victory over the local favourite Gio Ponti.
Tajaaweed bounced back immediately from his disappointing performance to score in an allowance claimer also at Arlington Park on 10 September, 2011.
