Takahito Soma parts ways with Energie Cottbus – 2. Bundesliga News
Energie Cottbus defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Takahito-Soma-c34512, has decided to part ways with the club during the late hours of Wednesday. The decision came as a surprise for most of the officials and the fans who were expecting the Japanese to fulfil his contract, which runs
until the end of the 2011/12 season. Soma cited some personal reasons behind this decision and was apologetic towards the expectant fans.
Energie Cottbus were in full flow in terms of their preparation for the upcoming season before the request came from the full-back. Manager Claus-Dieter Wollitz has denied that the latest developments would halt program but seemed disappointed on losing
the defender. He believed that Soma was one of the brighter prospects during the recently concluded 2010/11 season and the void left by him can’t be filled in on immediate basis.
The player mentioned that there were some family problems which forced him to take this decision. He also expressed grief over the step taken by him and wished Cottbus very best for the coming season. The Japanese hailed the management at Stadion der Freundschaft,
saying that every staff member was supportive and never really let him feel away from home. He regarded Cottbus experience as the best of his career so far and desired to return to the club at some other stage of his life, either as a player or a manager.
Cottbus manager, in an interview to a local newspaper, told, “Taka asked us for a contract termination out of family reasons.”
The former Urawa Red Diamonds player previously demanded a release from the club in April earlier this year but the officials didn’t let the defender go. It was believed that Soma wanted to play in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 in the Major League Soccer, for which he handed
in the request.
The 29-year-old joined the club in 2010 after spending a year with the Portuguese club, C.S. Maritimo. Since landing in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 a few days prior to the start of the 2010/11 campaign, Soma managed 21 league appearances, netting a solitary goal in the process.
