Take Cover fancied to beat Kakatosi in Tullamore Dew Handicap at Kempton
Take Cover is unbeaten so far in his career of four starts and despite the fact that it will be his first trip on Polytrack, one can comfortably take a chance on him in Tullamore Dew Handicap, being hosted by Kempton on Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
The 5-year-old strike a wonderful hat-trick at Southwell last year. After enjoying three easy victories, he went on a long vacation, and returned to action last month. David C. Griffiths’ charge had to work really hard in order to achieve fourth consecutive win.
The spectators at Haydock saw him tracking the leaders initially in the Gordon Sanderson's Big Birthday Dash Handicap. Under Robert Winston, he managed to get into a great position ahead of the final furlong.
He was seriously challenged by Defence Council in the dying moments, but the 13-2 chance kept things under control, and stayed on well to clinch the first place by a neck’s distance.
His act was good enough to believe that he is in good shape at the moment. Owned by Norcroft Park Stud, the son of Singspiel is likely to continue his fantastic work and grab more wins this winter.
The main danger is Kakatosi. After suffering a few awful defeats early in the season, Andrew Balding’s charge finally showed some improvement last time. On his latest start at Brighton, he was third in a very tough competition. The son of Pastoral Pursuits is likely to build on that, and show more improvement this time.
Including the abovementioned pair, fourteen horses have entered the class 4 meeting. The £4,075 event is due to be held over seven furlongs, and will be kicked off at 20:50 GMT.
Shifting Star is suited by return to Polytrack, but vulnerable to an improver. Chapter And Verse will have good chances, if there is any pace in the surface. Good Authority is a 7f specialist, and should go well back on AW.
The real clash remains between Take Cover and Kakatosi. The former is in way better form, and should be preferred. We wish the best of luck to all the horses.
