Question:

Take Me Out and Cure the Blues?

I have a mare that is out of Take Me Out, who is out of Cure the Blues.

I know their winnings. But i was just wondering if anyone ever saw them race.

Or if anyone has or knows a horse out of them.

Just curious because Take Me Out seems to be a very narrow made, tall, high withered and say boney horse and so is my girl.

She is at a great condition I am just wondering if anyones horse out of him is the same.

Any input is great!

  1. I remember Take Me Out racing very well.  He was a hard-knocker who always ran an honest race.  He didn't win all that often, but he was stakes-placed to a number of wonderful runners, including champions Fly So Free, Pleasant Tap and Rubiano as well as stakes winners Sultry Song, Birdonthewire, etc.

I don't know if I would agree that he is 'bony' but certainly he is a tall, lanky horse.  He has sired some decent runners and is regularly among the leading sires in NY.  He stands at Milfer Farms, who's website is   http://www.milferfarms.com/

You can also watch him race if you go to http://www.breederscup.com/bc_timecapsul... .  Scroll down to "1990 Belmont Park" and select the Juvenile.  Take Me Out runs second in the race but he is on the lead through most of the video.

  2. There's a picture of Cure the Blues on this page:

And a picture of Take me Out on this page:

(put your cursor on the little horse picture icon that follows his name at the top of the page.)

Take Me Out stands at Milfer Farm in New York:

This is his page on their list of stallions:

If you contact Milfer Farms, I'm sure that they will send you pictures and be happy to talk to you about Take Me Out.  Most farms love to talk about their horses' progeny.

I saw Cure the Blues at Greentree as a stallion in 1985.  He was a nice-looking horse, but unexceptional in build:  kind of average in size and shape.  He was well-conformed but not flashy to look at.

FWIW, some Thoroughbreds tend to be tall and rather narrow, with prominent withers.  I don't recall Cure the Blues as being built that way, at least not so it stuck in my mind.

Greentree Stud, where Cure the Blues stood until his death, was bought by Gainesway Farm.  This is their website:  http://www.gainesway.com/

If you contact them, I'm pretty sure that they will send you pictures of Cure the Blues.

    Good luck!
