Take a washer machine to Monterrey, Mexico from TX

I need to take a washer machine to my sis in Monterrey. These machines costs 2-3 times more in Monterrey. My sis doesn't have one.

The best thing the you can do is contact a customs broker in Mexico, because there are some brands and country of origin, that are not allow to be imported and others are more expensive (tax wise).

ONCE YOU PAY the taxes the washer may not be cheaper compare to the ones in Mexico. So it is really worth it to check before hand.

In some cases if the brand is allow, as well as the country of origin, and the price does not exceed x quantity, you can declare the item as soon as you arrive to customs and say you want to pay the import taxes. But there are some electronics that are not allow at all. AND THEY CHANGE THIS RULES ALL THE TIME. Also this is a must you have to had the receipt.

The red light will tell you to stop or not.  If it's older you'll pay less duty.  Don't bring in a new one in the box.

All depends on the border guards when you cross. Technically you are not allowed to import appliances on a tourist visa especially new ones. They may check the serial numbers even if you take it out of the box and make you pay duty on it. Tell her to check Sears in Monterrey, their prices are very comparable to prices in the states.
