“Take care of Brady to kill New England Patriots’ offence,” Justin Tuck tells New York Giants
New York Giants’ defensive end, Justin Tuck, believes that New England Patriots’ quarterback, Tom Brady, will be the biggest threat in the Super Bowl XLVI matchup, and advised Giants’ defensive unit on Friday, January 27, 2012, to control Brady to ensure
victory for the team.
The National Football Conference (NFC) champions, Giants, and American Football Conference (AFC) champions, Patriots, will face off in the Super Bowl XLVI on February 5 in Indianapolis.
The Patriots, who are on a 10-game winning streak, owe their success largely to Brady, who has been the team’s central playmaker.
The level of competition Giants are going to face against Patriots can be ascertained by looking at Tuck’s remarks for Brady.
He said:
“The way to kill the snake is to take off his head. The way to kill an offence as potent as that one is making sure you take care of Brady.”
Giants and Patriots also played in the Super Bowl XLII. In that game, Brady received nine hits and was sacked five times. Eventually the Pats lost the game.
Giants’ defensive end, Osi Umenyiora, is of the view that his team can win the Super Bowl again if Brady is controlled.
He commented that:
“It’s going to be hard for us to get to him, but whenever we have the opportunity — and there will be a time we have an opportunity — we have to take advantage of it.”
On the other hand, Patriots are also well aware of what they are going to face this time.
Tuck and Umenyiora are just two members of Giants sturdy defensive line and there are a lot many other players to be taken care of.
Brady was not protected properly in their last Super Bowl meeting, but now the Pats are preparing well to overcome that flaw.
Guard, Logan Mankins, while appreciating Brady said that the quarterback has the ability to penetrate Giants’ defence and find accurate receivers for his passes.
He said:
“Well, the same thing that makes Tom successful against every team. He knows where the guys are coming from, he can read the defence fast to get the ball to the right guy.”
With both sides equally charged up, there is not denying the fact that it will be a historical game.
